Private Lessons

It’s No Secret... If You Want To Improve Your Conversational Skills, You Need Real World Practice

In order to communicate better, attending a regular ESL class won't do much good.  You need to be focused on actually speaking. Here's how Port of Conversation helps:

This Is More Than Just A Conversation... Check Out The Advantages Of Taking Classes With Us

Flexibility

With the option to either book Group Classes or Private Lessons, you can choose what's best for you from the date and time to the topic and number of lessons you want to book.  Just trying us out? Book 1 lesson.  Love our lessons?  Book multiple.  It's up to you!

Personalized

Every lesson is unique. Group Classes start with a question and have a discussion that goes in the direction you want it to go in.  Private Lessons? We work on whatever you want to.  Goal setting? A skill you struggle with? Working on feedback? We got you!

  • Focuses on conversations you have outside of lessons and something you are interested in.
  • Is student focused.  Have a question you want to bring up related to the topic?  Just ask!
  • Provides feedback so you can work on improving in between lessons.

If you want to see improvement and meet your goals, we'll help you exceed them.

Why Focus On Speaking Instead Of All Communication Skills?

  • If you are a strong reader, great listener, and can write well, but struggle to communicate in a conversation, then you need to focus on your weakness.
  • Knowing what you want to talk about, but not knowing how to start a conversation or how to keep a conversation going are common challenges.
  • Improving your speaking also allows you to improve your confidence and self esteem.  In order to improve your speaking skills you need a safe place to practice, which is often generally not a classroom.

There are 4 simple steps to start your journey

Feedback

One of the biggest issues with speaking English is you never know what you're doing wrong until someone makes fun of you.  Not anymore!  We let you know 1 thing you're doing really well and 3 things (with tips, tricks, or resources) you can work at!

Speaking Program Pricing

Prices are in USD and tax is not included.

Please note that for all lessons, it is required that your webcams are on for the duration of the lesson and we can see your face. This is so body language can be seen which is a part of the message communicated when people talk.

  • We provide a second option.  We have created a similar environment, but with support.  Try a trial lesson see if Port of Conversation's Programs work for you.
  • The best way to practice is in the real world with real people.  This can be stressful for the fear of making a mistake.

Improve Your Spoken English

Step 2: Lesson Choice

Step 1: Reflect

One of the biggest things most English learners don't do, is to know why you're learning English. Is it to communicate in certain circumstances or do you need a certain proficiency for a job?

Decide on which lessons are best for you. Group Classes tend to be better if you need to practice talking in a conversation and Private if you need to work on certain skills.

Step 3: Register

Register for classes.  For Group you choose a theme, date and time. For Private you can choose a date and time.  You will then need to let us know what you want to work on.

Step 4: Attend Classes

Attend the class you registered for.  After the lesson you will receive feedback with some tips and tricks to improve. Continue working on them and attending lessons to improve.

  • If you are a strong reader, great listener, and can write well, but struggle to communicate in a conversation, then you need to focus on your weakness.
